NCCE Boss Wants Politicians Prosecuted Over Obstruction Of Justice

The National Chairman of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Larry Bimi, has suggested, to security personnel to take on politicians who obstruct justice delivery. According to him, the only way to discourage obstruction of justice in the country to ensure rule of law, democracy and inculcate patriotism in people, is for security personnel to arrest and prosecute politicians who interfere in their duties. Time has come for security personnel to throw into jail politicians who intervene on behalf of lawless party members in the grip of police for having beached the laws of the land, he said. Mr. Bimi said this in an exclusive interview with The Enquirer at Yendi after he had earlier addressed political party activists at Chereponi. The NCCE man observed that politicians have taken the country and its law for granted for far too long and they should be forced to abide by the laws they enacted for the law enforcing agencies to ensure lawless free, good governance, rule of law and enhance democracy. It is becoming increasingly unacceptable some activities of politicians in this country which were encouraging lawlessness and culture of impunity among the youth of this nation, he bemoaned. Mr. Bimi called on the security personnel not to relent in their efforts to deal with criminals, who breach the laws with impunity in the country. Addressing political activities earlier at Chereponi at a community sensitization forum organized by the Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA) on the political tolerance, Mr. Bimi admonished supporters of the political parties not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to achieve their selfish interests. He said though the politicians have always become Members of Parliament, DCEs, presidents and ministers, their supporters, and for that matter the people, continue to wallow in abject poverty. How many of you have benefited from supporting politicians? You always struggle for their victories but they ignore you after winning the elections, he said. He told them that if the politicians were concerned about the livelihoods of their people, there would not have been instances where people would lack potable drinking water, good roads, hospitals, schools and electricity, among other amenities. He advised political activists to stop killing each other for politicians but rather concentrate on things that would bring development to the people.
