Numo Nmashie Family Takes Over Lands ...After Granting of Possession By Court

The Numo Nmashie Family of Teshie and La last Friday took possession of vast parcels of lands after the Lands Court had given them the right of possession of over 72 villages in the Greater Accra Region.

Led by Ing. Surveyor Samuel Larbi Darko, who is the lawful Attorney of the family, they visited Abokobi, Amanfrom, Frafraha, Ashiyie and Oyarifa to symbolically take possession of the said lands.

Eric Botchwey, a Court Bailiff who read out the Court documents, assisted the family to take over their previously encroached lands amidst jubilation by the enthusiastic family members.

However, there was a near clash at Abokobi, near Madina, where a group from Brekusu who had been defeated in Court by the Numo Mnashie famliy were also on site claiming ownership over the same parcel of land and attempted resisting the takeover. It took the timely intervention of the Police to douse the tension. The Police was on hand to provide security for the smooth possession of the land.

The ringleader of the land guards from Brekusu was arrested and detained by the Police for attempting to obstruct the Court Bailiff from carrying out his lawful mandate.

The granting of right of possession by the Court means that no one apart from the Numo Nmashie family and its lawful Attorney Ing. Darko, can lease a portion of the land to an investor. It brings to closure the long standing litigation over ownership of the said lands.

“We are so happy to see this day happen. We have been in court for decades over these lands and since the Court has given us the possession right, I think people would now feel comfortable doing business with us. Fortunately, we have a very honest and hardworking man we have given the Power of Attorney to represent us so we can now heave a sigh of relief” an elated family elder told The New Crusading GUIDE.

With the possession of lands granted by the Court, the Numo Nmashie family would in the coming days, or weeks take possession of lands in areas such as: Mempeasem, Ashonman, Ablajei, Sempene, Aboman, Pantang, Akporman, Boi, Kweiman, Otinibi, Ochirenkumfo, Ashale-Botwe, and Agboba.

The other villages are: Aiyim, Bawaleshie, Madina, Mempeasem, Ogbojo, Otele, Bacthona, Agblesia, Danfa, Adoteiman, Berekuso, Ajitamenti, Aiyimensa and Sesemi, Gonteng, Obedibeng, Otanno, Martestsuru, Agyriganor, among others.
