Check Your Names, DCE Urges Voters

Mr Adams Sulemana, the Tain District Chief Executive (DCE), on Monday advised registered voters to check their names in the register, as the Electoral Commission (EC) undertakes a voter’s exhibition exercise.

He said generally most of the exhibition centers are calm, with low turnouts, and that it is necessary for eligible voters to go and verify their details as soon as possible.

Mr Sulemana said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after he visited some of the exhibition centers at Nsawkaw.

He expressed unhappiness with the low turnouts, which had characterized almost all the exhibition centers in the District and attributed them to low publicity.

Mr Sulemana said the District Security Council (DISEC) had formed an election security taskforce and would collaborate with the EC to ensure that certain security challenges which confronted the 2012 general election are not repeated.

He urged followers of the various political parties to be tolerant, respect views of party opponents and to be decorous in the electioneering campaign for peaceful elections in November 7.

Mr Sulemana said this could be achieved if the political party supporters based their campaigns on issues and avoided personality attacks.
