Ministerial Tender Review Board of the Ministry of Tourism Inducted

An eight-member Ministerial Tender Review Board of the Ministry of Tourism was on Thursday inducted into office with a call on members to strictly adhere to lawful procedures. Mr. Kwabena Owusu-Acheampong, Deputy Minister of Tourism, who inaugurated the board in Accra, said though adherence to constitutional procedures could be cumbersome and frustrating sometimes, it was the only mechanism that would enhance transparency in procurement matters. You must cooperate with each other and be united to get things done the best way and achieve good results, he said. Mr Samuel Salas Mensah, chairman of the Board, on behalf of members said the tourism sector should be the countrys leading revenue generation sector and they would strive to contribute to that target. We will perform our duties creditably with despatch, devoid of self-interest, he said, and stressed that transparency and dedication to duty would be the hallmarks of their performance. Other members are Mrs Diana Hammond, Mr Emmanuel Victor Hagan, Mr David Quaye, Mr Joe Adomako, Mr Julius Debrah, Mr David Nana Anim and Mr. Raynold Quashie. Section 20 (2) of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663) enjoins all ministries to have a Procurement Board.
