Dawa �Self-Styled Chief�, 6 Others Arrested For Contract Killing

The Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor has been petitioned to carry out extensive investigation in a contract killing case involving the man carrying himself as the Chief of Dawa, Tettehwayo Nyemiteye and Kudjo Delali Atinyo.

The contract killing case was reported by one, Freeborn Teye Kofi, a 46-year-old man of the Loweh Animamorsi family at the Tema Habour Police Station who allged that Kudjo Delali Atinyo, who was contracted to carry out the killing informed him (Freeborn) of a contract Tettehwayo Nyem, the selfstyled Dawa Chief entered with him (Kudjo Delali Atinyo) to kill Freeborn Teye Kofi for a fee of Gh¢50,000 and an acre of land.

According to Freeborn Teye Kofi, the alleged contract killer, Kudjo Delali Atinyo, disclosed to him that, he (Kudjo) had a meeting with seven people; including Narteh Teye, Narteh Tetteh Lokpo, Bibio Narteh, Miseh Dokutso Narteh, Tettehwayo Nyemiteye and Agbokey Nyemiteye and John Narh Nartey at residence of the ‘self-styled chief’ in January 2016, where they planned on how to assassinate Freeman Teye Kofi.

“Even though threatened by the information delivered by the suspect , which was then an allegation  I tried with the full support of the suspect to also device a measure by recording all arrangement by way of discussion  to ensure the plan  is confirm without any doubt  being made against Tettehwayo Nyemiteye and his six accomplices,” Freeborn stated in his petition.
According to Kudjo Delali Atinyo, his contractor agreed to pay the stated amount of money at the completion of the task, but was given an initial payment of GH¢2000, leaving a balance of GH¢48000 and one acre land.

Meanwhile, unwilling to carry out the dastardly and dreadful act, Kudjo Delali Atinyo, the contracted killer and Freeborn Teye Kofi both planned to frame the murder.

Indeed, it all went well as planned when Kudjo Delali Atinyo succeeded in kidnapping Freeborn Teye Kofi, took him to a hideout and allowed him to go into hiding so as not to raise any suspicion of the frame up.

After succeeding in taking his prey into hiding, Judjo Delali Atinyo used a knife to rip into the dress Freeborn was wearing before the staged kidnap and smeared it with the blood of an animal to portray that he had killed his victim.
He then came back to his contractors with Freeborn’s dresses stained with blood claiming to have carried out the execution as planned.

After seeing the blood-stained clothes of Freeborn, the contractors paid another GH¢6000 from the outstanding arrears of GH¢48,000 with GH¢42,000 still left in debt.

He revealed that, on January 7, 2016 Kudjo Delali Atinyo called Narh demanding the outstanding GH¢42,000 and was given all assurances that the money would be paid the following day, January 8, 2016.

After they were fully convinced of the execution of the contract, they made a payment of GH¢3000.
According to Freeborn, Kudjo Delali Atinyo later told his contractors that one of the alleged assailants was being haunted by Freeborn’s ghost and that he wanted the outstanding fee paid so he could go to the Northern Region to fortify himself spiritually, and the full payment was then made.

Considering the gravity of the case and the way investigations are being carried out, Freeborn Teye Kofi is petitioning the IGP to order for the transfer of the case from the Tema Habour Police Station to Accra for effective investigation.

He stated that, “with the assistance of the suspect Kudjo who collaborated with me, we recorded several conversation in the course of their transaction between Tettehwayo  Nyemiteye  and his accomplices. I have been able through the advice of some elders requested for the case to be brought before your door step to ensure effective and transparent investigation.”

The contractors for the murder were later arrested and are currently under investigations.

Meanwhile, all exhibits such as video, audio recordings and the dress of the framed up murder victim with blood stains from a stubbed knife injury inflated on Freeborn  which were presented to the self-styled chief of Dawa to confirm the execution of the contract killing has been handed over to the police as evidence to confirm the crimes.
The case was transferred to the homicide unit of the police CID HQ in Accra.
