Mahama Warns UHAS Road Contractor

President John Dramani Mahama has warned the contractor working on the access roads to the University of Health and Allied Sciences to speed up construction work or risk losing the contract.

Authorities of UHAS have over the years complained about the deplorable state of the road to the permanent campus of the university at Sokode-Lokoe, which houses the School of Basic and Bio-medical Sciences.

Although Chinese Yanjian Group has completed works on the lecture halls, auditorium, multi-purpose science laboratory, administration block and residential facilities for both staff and students, Ussuya Ghana on the other hand, is yet to complete works on the 3-kilometer stretch of road awarded them.

The situation is rendering the University inaccessible. But addressing a maiden congregation of the first batch of students of the university, President John Dramani Mahama said he has directed the Ministry of Roads and Highways to ensure the contractor speeds up work on the road.

“I have also requested the Minister of Roads and Highways to have the contractor working on your campus roads to speed up work or else terminate the contract and re-award it to a more energetic contractor” he said.
