Police Service to recall Kofi Boakye

President John Evans Atta Mills, has on the advice of the Police Service Council asked the Police Service to recall from leave, former Police Director of Operations, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kofi Boakye and institute a service enquiry into his conduct. A statement signed Mrs Zita Okaikwei, Minister for Information, said the Council took note of the findings of the Georgina Wood Committee of 2006 as it related to ACP Kofi Boakye. These include findings of abuse of office, corruption, professional misconduct and unsatisfactory service. It said the decision that the Police Service should set up a Service Enquiry was to help the Service enquire into the conduct of ACP Kofi Boakye as contained in the Georgina Wood Committee Report which adversely affects the image and integrity of the Police Service and the country as a whole. The statement said this process was to ensure transparency and due process of law in conformity with the Police Service Act 350 of 1970 and the Police Service (Disciplinary) Regulations 1974, L.I. 993.
