Stars Needed To Fill Seats

Ghana coach has asked all the players who have barely played in the World Cup qualifying campaign to make the most of any opportunities that come their way. The Black Stars will be away to Benin on Sunday in Cotonou having already qualified for next year's finals in South Africa. Milovan Rajevac named a 20-man squad to face Benin this weekend as the African qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup reaches the penultimate stage. Ghanas squad for the pre-final qualifier in Group D sees Rajevac ring the changes for the away game. A total of 27 players have been used by Ghana throughout the entire qualifying campaign. Though some players might have established themselves in Milovan Rajevac's team but the Serbian says he still has spare seats in the dressing room. With two games to round up the campaign, Rajevac hopes to run the rule over other names beginning with the game against Benin. "Qualifying after four games has lifted the pressure off us. It was important for us to do our job well, so we can try out new things," the Serbian told www.ghanafa.org. "For this (Benin) game, we can't count on some players. Some are with the Black Satellites and others are missing due to injuries and a suspension. "So, every player who gets the chance to play would have to play well. I always want to see everyone and that is good for them and the team. "We have two big competitions (2010 CAN and World Cup) coming up next year and we need every player available to prepare our team. "And it means there are still spaces to be filled. You never know in football, anything can happen. So everyone would have to be prepared when called." Though there might be nothing to play for, having already qualified, Black Stars coach has declared that he expects the team to maintain their high standards. "Our record so far gives us confidence that we can play with at a higher level and win. "Benin will be playing at home and that would be difficult. I expect us to continue playing well and looking to improve. "We have qualified but the campaign is not over. We have to show respect to our opponents and keep our record," Rajevac added. The Black Stars sit top of Group D, seven points clear in the qualifiers. Ghana became the first African nation to make it to the World Cup finals after they defeated Sudan 2-0 in the Group D qualifiers in Accra last month.
