Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur on Saturday urged Ghanaians especially Christians to promote and spread peace messages during and after the forthcoming General election.
He said every little step helps the process of nation building and elections are just incidental in the process of attaining that purpose.
Vice-President Amissah-Arthur was speaking as the guest of honour at the Global Evangelical Church’s (GEC) second National Peace and Health Walk in Accra.
The event was to spread the peace messages as the country prepares for its forthcoming general election and also meet and promote the physical welfare of its members in the development of the church.
The walk, which attracted 10,000 members from the Accra and Tema Presbytery, was also to donate blood to stock the depleting reserves of the National Blood Bank.
The event started from the Accra Sports Stadium, through the high streets to Makola and back to the Stadium.
He expressed the hope that Ghanaians would leave a life of peace during and after the elections and Ghana would be peaceful
The Right Reverend Dr Setorwu Ofori, Moderator of the GEC, said elections do not mean war but rather it’s a means to elect new leaders to govern a state.
He said the leadership of the Church expects Christians, especially members to put up good behaviour in the forthcoming elections.
He said it is the Church’s prayer and desire that the elections be even more successful and peaceful to glorify the name of the Lord.
