MTN Donates Towards Asafotufiami Festival

MTN, the leading mobile telecommunications company in Ghana, has presented a cash cheque, air time and drinks hamper to the Ada Traditional Council in support of the upcoming Ada Asafotufiami Festival. The Company will also assist with the organisation of the Durbar of Chiefs and People of Ada, the Ada Royal Walk and MTN Asafotu Jam at Kemmat Hotel.

During the celebration, MTN will also provide a platform for patrons to experience the Company’s newly launched 4G LTE services. There will be 4G LTE experiential setups at vantage points in Ada with data ambassadors and MTN canvassers available to support patrons with their data needs. Data ambassadors will assist customers who need to activate data bundles and also provide internet settings for customers who want to use internet on their phones and devices.

In a brief presentation to the chiefs and elders at Ada, MTN’s Regional Sales Manager for Greater Accra Region, Mr. Prince Nyarko said, “We are pleased to see that the 2016 Asafotufiame festival coincides with our company’s 20 years of operations in Ghana. In view of this, we have come to express our gratitude to the people of Ada for your support during the two decades. You have contributed in making it possible for MTN to be in business for 20 years.”

Mr. Nyarko continued, “As an indigenous African organisation, MTN is committed to supporting and promoting our rich Ghanaian heritage and festivals are an important component of this rich heritage. As a result, we have in the past nine years committed our resources to supporting selected traditional festivals each year across the country.”

MTN delegation used the opportunity to inform the leaders and members of the community of the launch of the MTN’s 4G service and encouraged customers to swap their SIM cards to enable them experience the benefits of 4G LTE technology.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Ada Traditional Council and festival planning committee, Mr Jonathan Dokutso, the Secretary to the Planning Committee, expressed his gratitude to the management of MTN for their continuous commitment to support Ada Asafotufiami.

As part of MTN’s plan to support and promote Ghanaian culture and heritage, the company supports over 12 traditional and regional festivals across the country, including the Asogli Yam Festival, Kwahu Easter Festival, Kobine Festival, Oguaa Fetu Afahye, Esikado Kuntum and Hobetsotsoza. The Company also celebrates MTN-initiated regional festivals - Oil City Fest, Savannah fest, Ashanti Fest, Suncity Fest and Sallah Fest, among others.
