Health Director Urges Vaccination Of All Babies

Mothers have been asked to make sure that all new born babies are put on recommended vaccines.

Mrs. Eva Aryee, the Sunyani West District Director of Health, said vaccinating children below one-and-a-half years against tuberculosis, polio, hepatitis ‘B”, tetanus, measles, pnemoccocal meningitis and yellow fever was a national policy.

Doing this, she indicated, was in the interest of the child – to provide them with more protection, strengthen their immune system and ensure their growth.

She was speaking at a mid-year performance review meeting held at Odumase in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Mrs. Aryee gave the assurance that adequate vaccines had been supplied to the public health facilities including those in the deprived communities.

She noted that significant progress had been made in the national fight against polio and measles and said the momentum must be sustained.

The nation could not afford to make any slip, he added.
