Stop Talking And Work Sannie Jabs Sports Minister

Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Alhaji Sannie Daara has lashed out at the Minister for Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, calling on him to concentrate on his role as Minister and desist from making denigrating and sullying attacks on the Kwesi Nyantakyi-led administration.

Sanni’s outbursts have come on the backdrop of wild accusations of financial and non-disclosure of match details from the sector minister leading to very strong verbal attacks through the media between the two football magnates.

Speaking on Joy FM’s sports show, the vociferous Sannie Daara said a digression from attacking the FA would help the minister succeed in his mandate of steering the affairs of youth and sports in the country rather than making allegations which cannot be substantiated.

The minister has in recent times chided the FA over payments of winning bonuses to the Black Stars players as well as the free distribution of match tickets to officials of who attend national team matches.

The minster has also accused the FA of distributing Grand Cherokee vehicles donated to the Black Stars after the 2014 World Cup and the non-disclosure of details of the Black Stars friendly match against Japan.

Debunking the allegations, the former sports presenter with the BBC cautioned the minister “to stop talking and concentrate on his work because a rebuttal to all of his allegations would not inure to the benefit of all parties.”

“We are not responding to the allegations because we respect the inviolability and dignity of the minster and the ministry he represents but he should be able to prove all his allegations because the reputation of some personalities he mentioned is at stake at the moment.”

“The last thing we heard, he (the sports minister) said someone (from the GFA) demanded some special favours from him before the Black Satellites game against Senegal.

“We are not taking this lightly, as such allegations are damaging and as such, will request the minister to name the official.

“We will, during the next executive meeting, raise the issue after gathering all the points he has raised,” he added.
