Toddler Survives Without Food

A one and half year- old baby boy who was abandoned in the bush for four days without food and water has survived the ordeal.

The child is currently on admission at a health facility at Adum Banso in the Mpohor District of the Western Region, Chief Inspector Edward Addo, a Station Master at Adum Banso told the Ghana News Agency.

He said his 26-year-old mother, Ekua Gyesiwa, has been arrested and is in the grips of Adum Banso Police for allegedly abandoning her child in the bush.

The suspect, an indigene of Abura Dunkwa in the Central Region, is expected to be arraigned for exposing child to danger.

Chief Inspector Addo said one George Minimsaa, a farmer, chanced on the child stripped naked under a palm tree with a piece of cloth beside him last Saturday, July 30.

He said the farmer informed the elders of the town who subsequently lodged a complaint with the Police who led a search party to the bush and rescued the child on Tuesday, August 2, at a village called “K Four”.

Meanwhile, Police interrogations revealed that the suspect abandoned the child because he felt sick too often, looked ugly and more so, both parents had separated.
