Mobile Web Ghana And Ispace To Train Women In Technology

Mobile Web Ghana and iSpace foundation have collaborated to launch the Unlocking Women and Technology project in Ghana. The project which aims to train women in technology, to improve their education and enhance business efficiencies, has been introduced by the two technology and entrepreneurship Non-for profit organisations, this week.

Speaking at to the media, the Director of Mobile Web Ghana, Florence Toffa said, “The unlocking and women technology project seeks to equip and empower more women with basic technology tools to build businesses, increase women participation in the technology industry and create sustainable technology businesses”.

She further explained the rationale behind project.  “We are looking for young women who want to set up tech business, use technology to improve their business processes and senior high students who want to get skills in introduction to tech tools for learning, and basic programming, Florence added.

The Unlocking Women and Technology project has different modules tailored for different groups of women in Ghana. There is a 4-weeks summer program for Senior High School girls in Education Technology, that aims give them a solid foundation in technology. Also available is a 3 months training program for women in apps development to equip them with the required skills to create their businesses.

Last, but not least is a 4 weeks technology for business for women who want to learn about how technology tools can enhance their business. Florence encouraged women to take more interest in the technology industry because of enormous relevance in the “modern age” and the plethora of opportunities it presents to them.

“Several opportunities exist in the technology industry, but ironically only few women show keen interest in it, Ghanaian women should see this as an opportunity to improve their businesses, set up new tech ventures and improve learning significantly,” Florence said.
