All 19 passengers onboard a Ford mini-bus traveling from Bogoso to Obuasi, last Saturday, are confirmed dead when the bus crashed onto the rear of a DAF articulated truck.

The incident happened at Subriso in the Wassa Amenfi East District of the Western Region.

The deceased, comprising eight females and 11 males, have been deposited at the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital, while police investigations are ongoing.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Isaac Kumnipa, the District Police Commander, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency on Sunday.

He said the accident occurred around 1930 hours on Saturday, August 6, when a Ford transit mini-bus with registration number AS 2830-16 with passengers onboard was traveling from Bogoso to Obuasi.

He said on reaching Wassa Subriso Township, the bus struck the rear of a DAF articulated truck with registration number AS 2214-X, which was loaded with cement bags, had developed mechanical fault and parked along the road.

According to the police, all the passengers onboard sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital, however, after being examined by Dr Zack Moussah, who is in-charge of the health facility, confirmed the death of all the passengers.

ASP Kumnipah  advised drivers whose vehicles develop mechanical fault, to park them off the road in order to give way to other road users.

He also cautioned them to reduce speed whenever they are approaching communities along the road in order to protect lives and property.
