2nd Lady Installed Queen Mother- Mamaga Afeamenyo 1 (Photos)

The people of Logba-Adzakoe traditional at the weekend performed traditional rites to install the Second Lady Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur, as a queen mother of the area under the stool name Unandze Afan Eshi or Mamaga Afeamenyo 1.

According to the council, the installation of Unandze Afan Eshi (Development queen mother)was in honour and recognition of the contributions of the Second Lady , towards the development of the .  Logba-Adzakoe -Traditional Area.

The title Unandze Afan Eshi or Mama Afeamenyo 1. This was in appreciation for her concern for the people of Akpana.

 The ceremony took place at a durbar organized to raise funds to feed the kpana education fund. The fund seeks to provide scholarships to brilliant but underprivileged children in the area to finish school.

The Wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, was there to support the initiative, reiterated the importance of education, which she stated that was the key to development in all spheres of life. She called on all to support the fund so as to provide quality education for the children in the area.

The Wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur also commended the people for implementing an initiative to invest into the future of the youth.

 She then donated educational materials, books and laptop computers to the Logba-Adzakoe RC Primary and Junior High Schools. The primary school has been in existence since 1946 and the then middle school, established in 1969 was changed to the JHS in 1987. The school is said to be doing well and got 100 per cent in the BECE in 2014 and 2015.

 The Chiefs, queen mothers and the people were grateful to Mrs. Amissah-Arthur for the kind gesture which they said would go a long way to help the school to again score 100 per cent in the 2016 BECE. And for her passion to make surethat quality education reach children in the country.

The Akpana Education Fund was actually established in July 2015 in Accra, to sponsor the education of the children and the smooth running of schools in the area. Each year, a fundraising durbar is organized back home to accumulate funds to invest into the fund. This year's durbar took place at Akpana in the Afadzato South constituency in the Volta region.

The Chairman of the Ghana Library Board, Mr. Kosi Kedem said the progressive world will not wait for any community hence the need for the people of Akpana to embrace the fund and make it a success.

The Paramount Chief of Logba Traditional area, Togbega Dabra said he has been able to climb the education ladder through scholarships, hence the Akpana education scholarship, if well managed will go a long way to help brilliant but underprivileged children in the area.
