A gathering to honour the memory of late Ghanaian highlife artiste, Daasebre Gyamenah, will be held today at the forecourt of Omanhene Palace in Koforidua.
Daasebre died on Friday, July 29 after an undisclosed illness.
The one week celebration is expected to be attended by a lot of stakeholders from Ghana’s entertainment industry, friends and family.
Until his death, Daasebre was a royal from the New Juaben Traditional Area in Koforidua, Eastern Region.
He died a practising Muslim, but his family did not allow the Islamic fraternity to give him an Islamic burial.
Hence, he will be buried as a royal of the New Juaben Traditional Area.
Daasebre was a great contemporary Ghanaian musician and his music will leave on many years to come.
In 2006, he was arrested at the Heathrow Airport in London on narcotics-related charges and thrown into jail.
He pleaded not guilty and explained that he had only travelled to London to do extra recording for his album titled‘A Friend In Need’.
In 2007, the court found him not guilty and was acquitted and discharged.
