Head Porter Stabs Colleague To Death

A 22-year old head porter has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his colleague to death over the carrying of luggage at the Takoradi station bus stop at Kaneshie in Accra.

The suspect, Kwame Adu is in the custody of the police assisting in investigations while the body of Fredrick Gyasi Nimako 22, alias “Akasha” has been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

The Kaneshie District Police Commander, Superintendent Francis Somian told The Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday that, at about 7pm on August 10, a passenger bus arrived at the station where passengers were off-loading their luggage.

He said Nimako was carrying a passenger’s luggage but was questioned by Adu whether he had been authorized by the owner to do so.

The commander said the question did not go down well with Nimako resulting in a scuffle between the two.

He said the two were separated by the passengers but Adu returned with a broken bottle and stabbed the colleague in the neck killing him instantly.

The commander said Adu has been provisionally charged for murder adding that the docket would be sent to the Attorney General’s Department for advice.
