Prof. Stephen Adei, Former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), has called on Christians to serve as agents of transformation in the development of the society.

He also admonished them, to use church revivals and conventions to effectively bring change to the society and practice the religion with passion, commitment and dedication.

Prof. Adei, gave this advice when he spoke at the 53rd Annual Session of the Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC) at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

The three-day event was on the theme: Harvest Time Today “Achieving the Great Commission Through Human Resource Development” and brought together Reverend Ministers across the country and some international representatives.

He said, Christians must support their religion materially, financially, socially spiritually and committed to the spread of the word of Christ.

According to Prof.Adei, Churches which setup universities must purposely be dedicated to the teaching of Christianity in facilitation of the spread of the word of Christ and the expansion of Christianity.

He urged pastors to set the examples of Christ to their congregations, devote time for the preaching of the word of God, and read the Bible and pray at least for one hour daily.

Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, Executive President of the GBC, said the convention adopted holistic approaches through its educational institutions, hospitals, Relief agency, local churches, Home and Mission to win souls for Christ.

To achieve this great success, the Convention needs highly trained and qualified personnel to take up responsibilities in the local churches, run our auxiliaries, work and head the convention institutions and secretariat.

Rev Adu-Gyamfi said, for the past two and half years, the Presidency have done everything possible to raise additional resources to augment the 20% contribution from churches to the Convention and that in the year under review, the secretariat have added four brand new vehicles to the fleet of the Convention.

Three of the vehicles came as individual donations and the other through special presidential fundraising activities of which The North American Baptist Association of the GBC (NABA) provided $15,000 as deposit for a brand new Mitsubishi Pick-up truck for the Children’s Department.

“We have also purchased a house in Hohoe which provide a permanent accommodation for our Missionary in the Volta Region, drilled three bore holes within the last few weeks in the Ejura camp and provided motorbikes and bicycles for some of our pastors in the rural areas.”

The Executive President 2017, marks the 60th anniversary of the Ghana Baptist Convention’s Senior High School, Kumasi Academy.

A yearlong celebration was officially launched on July 15, at the school campus.
