Ghanaian Youth Network for Peaceful Election (GYNPE) has urged the country’s politicians to desist from personal attacks and politics of insults.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Ghanaian Youth Network for Peaceful Election, M. B. Ofori, said Ghana is one of the most peaceful countries in Africa and the world as a whole since it’s birth of democracy and was applauded by the UN for upholding and sustaining it democracy for the past few years.

Recently the use of defamatory languages, threats and personal attacks by politicians and supporters has become the order of the day.

Basically, the GHANAIAN YOUTH NETWORK FOR PEACEFUL ELECTION (GYNPE) wishes to draw the general populace attention that this year’s election is about GHANA but not any political party’s interest.

This release is to agitate on the need of peace to prevail in this year’s elections because, Ghana is bigger than any political streams, so the youth shouldn’t allow themselves to be used by any  political party to deploy chaos and violence but rather team up and, SAY NO TO VIOLENCE, NO TO TRIBAL POLITICS, But rather . . . SAY YES TO PEACE, YES TO FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS because we are one people with common identity.

We also plead with politicians, stakeholders, civil societies, organisations and party activists to desist themselves from comments that can create fear and panic during and after the general elections.

In view of these it is necessary for the youth and the nation as a whole to desist from uncouth and barbaric speeches to avoid any conflict with people who will feel aggrieved due to those comments made to enhance the political growth of the country.

Predominantly these statements may create tension in the country and must  be avoided specifically in this election year.

And as we are gradually approaching the general elections, we call on all politicians and party activists to consider the peace we are relishing in the country and maintain it.
