NPP Youth Pledge To Police Ballot Boxes

THE SNATCHING of ballot boxes and other illegal activities that characterized elections in the past are not likely to happen this year.

This is because the youth wing of the largest opposition political grouping in the country, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to protect the ballot boxes at the polling station this year.

They have stated that they would stay at the polling centres from the start of the polls till the eventual winner at the various centres had been declared by the Electoral Commission (EC).

This, they stated, would prevent unscrupulous people from storming the polling centres to snatch ballot boxes and indulge in other election malpractices.

The Ashanti Regional youth wing of the NPP, on behalf of the other nine regions, made the pledge in Kumasi on Tuesday.

Stephen Amoah aka Sticker, the regional Organizer, led the youth wing as they made the pledge at a function.

National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Sammi Awuku, and other party gurus, including Dr. Boakye Agyarko, were present. The occasion was the Ashanti Regional NPP Youth Wing Conference.

A brainchild of Justin Kodua, the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP, the programme was to prepare the party’s youth ahead of the electoral campaign.

Sticker, who is determined to see that the NPP’s votes are properly protected, said the party would win if the electoral process is free and fair.

He urged the youth to stay at the polling centres and monitor the process advising, “But don’t interrupt with the process.”
