Kade Chief Calls For Restraint

In the wake of police intimidation, blatant disregard for law and order, and naked provocation of the youth of Kade, a town in the Eastern region, Osaberima Asare Twe II, the chief of the area is urging call and restrain amongst the youth.

“I want to use your medium to tell my subjects, especially the youth that the storm they are seeing now is only temporal and, like Moses told the Egyptians, it will soon be over and they won’t see it anymore”, he told our reporter yesterday in his private residence in Accra.

He is also urging the youth not to resort to violence but stay calm and allow the law to work so that the passing storm would be over without any violence recorded.

Osaberima Asare Twe II, known in private life as Twum Debrah’s admonition comes against the backdrop of the recent intimidation by the police who are taking sides and aiding the destooled chief of the town, alleged to be enjoying political support to launch provocative attacks on the whole town.

Within two weeks, the police, led by the Asamankese Commander, Chief Superintendent Wisdom Akorli have been surrounding both the old and new palaces of Kade at will, under the guise that they have a court order to allow the former chief entry into the palace.

Not even the revelation that the document they held was fake and did not have the authority stamp of either the court or the house of chiefs would make the police cease the early morning tormenting of the people.

Now the angry youth in the town who feel their peace is hanging in the balance are seething with anger to face-off with the police who intimidate them. It is against these revelations that Osaberima is urging the youth to be calm and calling on anybody that feels aggrieved to use the proper channel and stop seeking refuge in politicians to intimidate the peaceful and law-abiding Kade indigenes.

“I am however calling on the powers that be and the faceless politicians who are pulling the strings behind that man who is claiming to be chief that there is a limit to everything. For me, I will continue to urge calm amongst the youth. I will continue to tell them to ensure there is no bloodshed in the face of the naked provocation but those who are doing this too should advise themselves and stop it,” he stated.
