Weve Not Declared Obinim Wanted Police

The Tema Regional Police command has denied media reports suggesting that Bishop Daniel Obinim has been declared wanted by the law enforcement agency.

There were reports that after failing to honour an invitation by the Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service at Tema, the Police have consequently declared Bishop Daniel Obinim wanted.

However, on the back of these claims, Tema Police PRO, ASP Juliana Obeng said such reports in the media are inaccurate.

Speaking in an interview  on  Kasapa  FM, ASP Juliana Obeng said per the invitations sent to Bishop Daniel Obinim, dated August 19, he was supposed to report to the Police Friday upon delivery but till date he’s not shown up.

“We have not declared him wanted neither have we given him ultimatum. What we have done is to send an invitation letter to him to report to the DOVVSU department. Those reports in the dailies are inaccurate and it is not coming from my department.

“The young pastor that received our letter to him gave us the assurance that he’ll let Bishop have it by all means and we presumed by now he should receive our invitation letter and do something about it. We were expecting him to honour the invitation Friday, and we’re still looking forward for him to report. If he doesn’t by the close of the day, we’ll follow it up according to law.”

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection reported the founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church to the Accra regional office of DOVVSU last week for publicly flogging two teenagers in his church for fornication.

Also Human Rights Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu and two others have filed suits against the pastor seeking to have the bishop arrested and prosecuted for his conduct.

In the presence of the whole congregation, Wednesday evening, the Bishop removed his belt, and flogged young couple and later invited one of his assistant Pastors to join in the action. He was captured in a short video which has since gone viral.
