Asante Akyim South DCE Promotes Skirt And Blouse Voting

De-Graft Forkuo, Parliamentary Candidate for the ruling National Democratic Congress in the Asante Akyim South Constituency in the Ashanti Region has incurred the wrath of his Constituency grass root members  as he is said to be promoting the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party and himself at the expense of President John Mahama.

The odd practice commonly known as ‘skirt and blouse’ voting normally comes about when the individual does not think his flagbearer can win the election or is not popular in a particular constituency.

Mr. Forkuo who doubles as the District Chief Executive for area is also to be going about touting his popularity as against that of President Mahama hence his call for ‘skirt and blouse’ voting.

“We have seen Honorable (De-Graft) campaigning  in many villages saying that he cannot stop them from voting for Nana Akufo Addo however,  they should vote for him to represent them in Parliament”, a worried looking Kofi Asamoah, who said he was an NDC grassroot person told this paper over the weekend.

Another person who gave his name only as Yaw B and hailed from Atwedie also said he had heard that the DCE had printed T’shirts with pictures of himself and Nana Akufo Addo embossed on them “but he is yet to unveil them so we cannot talk much about it now. I hope it is only a rumour”

“we do not see why a DCE  would campaign for himself and say that people can vote for their preference as the Flag bearer.  It sends negative signals to us the grassroot members so he should be called to order” Yaw B told this paper.

Attempts to get the side of the story of the DCE cum Parliamentary candidate proved futile as his phone was said to be off and he did not respond to a text message sent to him.

Please stay tuned.
