Mahama Is A Desperate Father Christmas - Nana Fredua

Leading Member of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Fredua Agyeman, has criticized president Mahama's 'father christmas' attitude in an election year and described his actions as very embarrassing.

"Distributing items to the people with your party colours on them is very embarrassing and seeks to only buy their votes. You don't give the people fish, you teach the people how to fish so they can make a life out of that.

Create an environment where the people of this country can feel comfortable and work on their own. They need to be able to live on their own and take care of themselves. The 'father christmas' attitude by the president is very shameful," Nana Fredua said on ATV's Asem Yi Di Ka program on Monday afternoon.

Responding to a question on what constitutes vote buying on the show, he said that the president’s action shouldn’t be viewed as an intervention but one aimed at winning votes.

He said a good leader with developmental ideas will not desperately distribute all kind of items to the people in an election year. According to him, if your leadership skills worked effectively, you won't be that desperate.

Meanwhile on the same program, Hon. Tetteh Chai – NDC MP Ablekuma Central also admitted that it is wrong for the president, for that matter any leader to act in such a manner especially during election year.

He debunked speculations that the outboard motors were distributed freely to the fisher folks. He said they paid for them. Again he denied claims that the items had party colours on them and said there were no such thing during the distribution.
