The Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) is to meet representatives of key political parties in the country to solicit their views and buy in into its long term development vision.
 
The meeting, which is scheduled for August 31 at the authority’s head office in Accra, will also give SADA the opportunity to update the parties on its operations.

A statement from SADA said the meeting will aim at getting the parties to factor the operations of the authority into their respective manifestos, which are due to be released.

“As much as we want to update them on what we are doing, we are also looking at getting their inputs into how SADA should function, going forward,” the statement said.

The authority was established in 2010 as an independent and autonomous statutory corporation tasked with the responsibility of providing a framework for the comprehensive and long-term development of the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone.

Its key mandate is to establish a sound and healthy economy through the undertaking of even and balanced development of all regions and improvement of conditions of life in the rural areas. It is also enjoined with addressing the development imbalances between the rural and urban areas to ensure balanced regional development.

As a result, the authority came out with a number of initiatives to address the challenges, one of which is its Master Plan.

The plan is a comprehensive policy document that will serve as a blueprint to the transformation of the zone.

It is currently in the design process after which it will be rolled out.
