The Eagle Women Empowerment Club (EWEC), an NGO working to empower women, in collaboration with the African Business Women's Network (ABWN) is to organize an international business women's summit from the 21ST to 22ND October in Accra this year.
The summit on the theme: "Synchronizing global business-A new orientation for the African woman" is being put up against the background of the global economic downturn and the challenges it presents to many businesses, particularly, small and medium enterprises.
Ms Juliet Asante, President, EWEC, who announced this on Monday, said the rationale behind the summit was to "awaken the woman to see the current world situation as an opportunity to fine tune and emerge from the world crisis better business people, through best practices and advocacy, aimed at ensuring a better future for all peoples."
EWEC is a leading women's network accelerating economic growth and the general empowerment of women to improve the quality of life in Ghana.
Ms Asante said about 200 women from all over Africa are expected to attend the summit to share ideas and their successes to mentor other women.
She said topics to be treated would include "Branding/creating customer value, Satisfaction and loyalty, Building and maintaining Corporate Image, Women Transcending Cultural Limitations, Entering new Markets, Relevance of IT, Global trends and survival after the recession, Investment opportunities in Ghana and sources of funding".
Speakers would include Madam Dorothy Gordon of the Kofi Annan ICT Centre, Yoofi Grant of Data Bank Financial Services, Pat Mitchell, an international mentor and leader in global women's issues, the CEO of Paley Centre for Media, and Fiona Egberts, a woman's Advocate from UK as well as other representatives from the Bank of Ghana and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
