Tagoe Hires Decathlon World Champion to Keep Fit

Ghana striker Prince Tagoe has hired a former decathlon world champion to help him maintain his fitness for the Black Stars. Tagoe has not played competitive football since his German club Hoffenheim revealed a suspicious report claiming he had a heart defect two months ago. Several doctors have since cleared the striker of any illness but Hoffenheim are contesting the result with the German authorities. As the Ghanaian waits for the German Football League to reinstate his playing license, he has paid the 1987 decathlon champion Torsten Voss to train him. Voss trains with Tagoe twice a day to ensure that when the striker returns for the Black Stars he will hit the ground running. The former World Champion asked heart specialists Dr. Ulrich Keil to examine Tagoe before he accepted the job to train the Ghanaian. The renowed cardiologist Dr. Keil, who is also the team doctor of German side Fortuna Dusseldorf, also cleared Tagoe before Voss agreed to train the striker. With the latest revelation, Hoffenheim are facing an embarassing verdict from the German Football League. Tagoe is keen to play for the Black Stars in their last qualifying mathc against Mali next month and pave the way for a Nations Cup place. Voss' biggest success was when he won the world title in the decathlon at the 1987 World Championships in Rome as a representative for East Germany.
