NDC Women Slam Party Leaders

Women organizers of the NDC in the Upper East Region have lamented the inability of the party leadership to consult them in appointing ministers, municipal and district chief executives (MDCEs) and other government officials. They blamed the partys leadership for ignoring the womens wing and failing to abide by the partys constitution that makes them an integral part of the structures. The womens wing has been neglected for long and there is the need for our leaders to recognize that women always work and vote for the NDC in elections than men, they said. The women organizers, therefore asked the NDC executives to lobby and ensure that women are assisted to get jobs. The women made the call at a meeting with the regional minister, Mr. Mark Owen Woyongo, and his deputy, Mrs. Lucy Awuni, in Bolgatanga. The meeting was intended to enable the regional minister and his deputy to interact with regional and constituency women organizers and their deputies, as well as district organizers of the 31st December Womens Movement to chart a new path to move the NDC forward in the region. The women commended the regional minister for organizing the meeting and urged them to make the meeting a quarterly affair. They suggested that a vehicle be given to the regional womens organizer to enhance her movement to the various constituencies. They equally suggested to the deputy regional minister to always visit them in their constituencies. They equally suggested to the deputy regional minister to always visit them in their constituencies. The regional minister, on his part thanked them for working hard to assist the party to recapture power from the NPP. He advised the women not to buy the criticism that the government is slow, since they are taking their time to pursue their policies. I ask you to be patient with the government until next year when we would unfold the better Ghana agenda, he stressed.
