The ministry of health in their quest to provide quality healthcare to Ghanaians and also to ensure that blood transfusion is done safely has signed minutes of meeting with JICA in Japan.

Blood transfusion has become a necessity as people need blood in various circumstances like child birth, accident, lack of blood in the human system to survive.

Most often due to the urgent of blood to save lives, the national blood bank advocate for people to donate blood so it helps solve the needs of others.

These blood samples when gotten need to undergo screening to ensure its safety before it is transfusion into the one in need.

To make the blood safer, the ministry of health sought help and the help came from JICA, a company in Brazil who has provided the equipment called Mirasol that would satisfy the need of the ministry and the nation as a whole.

In agreement to use and take care of this equipment, the ministry of health has signed the minutes of meeting with reps from Jica.

The honourable minister in charge of the health sector,Alex Segbefia thanked the people for this gesture and said that he would want to be like Oliver twist and ask for

According to him they have learnt that there is a new discovery of treating heart heart problems and this is done through the veins.

"This allows less pain and the effect is last longing hence I will request that you train some of our surgeons to be able to use that technology"

"If it will take us to foot the bills for our surgeons to learn and get hold of the equipment in Japan, we will do it"

In an interview with Dr. Shirley Owusu a transfusion medicine officer, she explained the machine has come at the right and it will be of good use to us.

"Our blood is safer but with this machine which is the Mirasol, it will make it more safer and hitherto sickness that we could not even detect after the screening, this equipment can detect all those after the blood goes through it".

With the failure on our part in terms of our maintenance culture, the doctor assured that they will take care of it and make sure it is put to good use

The equipment which costs $500000 was donated to the national blood bank to make sure bloods are safer for transfusion.
