The Ghana Police Service, GHS, has in the weekend, embarked on anti-violence advocacy in Bolgatanga of the Upper East Region to remind the Ghanaian citizens of their readiness to deal decisively with some miscreants who attempt to orchestrate any activities that could plunge the nation into chaos before, during and after the 2016 general elections.

Marching through the Bolgatanga principal streets, while chanting police songs on heavy downpour, the police portrayed they were "more than prepared" to put their High Risk Operation Training programme into practice during the December elections.

Briefing Peace news on the exercise, the Coordinator of the High Risk Operation  Course,  Superintendent of Police, SP Raymond Adofiem, said the police ant-violence advocacy was aimed at tracking down people who were interested in warmongering during the December 7 polls.

He disclosed the police would go door-to-door to educate the public to appreciate the need for peace in the wake of the elections, adding they would soon visit houses in some villages, including Paga, Navrongo, Pwalugu and Bolgatanga, all in the Upper East Region to educate the people on their anti-violence move.

Superintendent Adofiem, therefore, pleaded with political parties' activists, traditional leaders, youth leaders, among other stakeholders to endeavour to join the anti-violence advocacy crusade being embarked by the police to ensure the elections were not marred by pockets of picketing and violence.

He cited some countries in Africa, including Liberia, Cote D'Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Egypt, among others whose citizens were going through widespread  of hardship as a result of political violence and warned all Ghanaians to take a cue from that.

"The police are ready to deal with violence and crime in general during the December 7 polls. We are asking all people to report any suspicious characters who are likely to cause chaos in the elections.

"We know that peace cannot be bought from the shopping mall, so, we are asking members of the public to report people who are interested in running the country down by causing violence in the elections", Superintendent Adofiem appealed.
