A 29-year old mentally challenged person, Baba Yara on Saturday, beheaded his mother at Tepa Esushyiaye in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The suspect dismembered the limbs of the woman, known as Maame Salllah.
The gory incident followed a misunderstanding between the suspect and his mother. Yara was arrested upon an alarm raised by residents in the area.
Tepa Police Chief Inspector Edward Kojovi told journalists that the incident was being investigated.
An eyewitness, Kofi Adusei, said the suspect decapitated his mother when she tried disarming him of a knife he wielded, adding that “he cut her two hands and the two legs like he was slaughtering an animal.”
