A few days ago, I was deeply touched by an article written by Manasseh Azure Awuni, (SRC President of the Ghana Institute of Journalism) titled �Why They All Want To Date Michael Essien.
The writer wrote at length about the need to develop one�s talent than to imitate, saying emphatically that the world�s most respected and hailed are those who have developed their God-given talents to an admirable level but not those who have been to school or those with degrees and Certificates.
As a sports enthusiast, I took it upon myself to conduct a survey on why ladies would want to date the Chelsea star. Michael Essien. Of the fifty-six ladies interviewed by GHANA SPORTS, Twelve (12) of them said they would love to date Michael Essien because of his popularity, Thirteen (13) said because he is handsome and nice looking, Twenty-five (25) responded they would want to date Michael because he is rich and can provide everything they want, whilst Six (6) said they just love him. This survey was randomly done with a certain class of ladies in mind. Some of the ladies were picked from Secondary Schools, others from the Universities while the rest are office workers and business women.
Between the summer of 2007 and the summer of 2009, Essien was the most expensive African footballer on account of his �24.4 million move from French club Olympique Lyonnais to Chelsea FC. This achievement is now surpassed by Togolese player Emmanuel Adebayor, who moved from Arsenal to Manchester City for �25 million in the summer of 2009. Essien is often referred to as �the Bison� for his tough tackling style, boundless energy and physical presence on the pitch.
