NDC Pushed Amissah Arthur To Say Something Because Bawumia Had Spoken...

A deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Anthony Karbo has slammed Vice president Kwesi Amissah-Arthur for his ’empty’ response to facts put our by the NPP running mate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, during his recent lecture on the state of the economy.

Dr. Bawumia in a public lecture last Thursday themed:“The State of the Ghanaian Economy; A Foundation of Concrete or Straw” argued the John Mahama-led administration has mismanaged the economy by borrowing excessively, saying the Mills government did far better than Mahama.

Responding to Bawumia at Ashaiman on Sunday, Amissah-Arthur dismissed the former’s claims.

“…You cannot come and say that interest payment has exceeded capital payment, therefore, we have made some mistakes, no!” Amissah-Arthur told National Democratic Congress supporters .

He added: “At the appropriate time, we shall respond in full measure to all the lies that have been told; at the appropriate time, we shall correct him and teach him the things that he doesn’t know but thinks he knows.”

“I heard that somebody has been making a lot of noise about the progress of this country and how the economy is not going well. John Mahama has worked hard and has developed this country to an extent that we haven’t seen in many years.

“But I heard one thing, which I have to correct. On TV3 four days ago I heard our opponent saying something that was very wrong so let me correct the first one because we will continue to correct him when he goes wrong.

“He said that interest payment had exceeded capital expenditure, ah! even anybody knows that if I borrow money to pay for a road and it is going to take me 10 years to pay for that road, every year I take one tenth of the money and use it to pay back from the person I borrowed the money from,” he explained.

But speaking to Kasapa News, the Anthony Karbo stated that it would have been better if he Veep Amissah Arthur had kept quiet as his response was hollow, adding that the NPP is waiting for the appropriate response he’s promised.

Amissah Arthur has nothing meaningful to say, he doesn’t know basic economics. The NDC bigwigs are the ones who pushed him to come and say something because Bawumia has spoken, and so he’s also saying something to make his voice heard. All he has said lacks basis and substance. Whatever Dr Bawumia said was backed by evidence, he presented data, graph used in his analysis which was sourced from public institution including the Ministry of Finance and Statistical Service. What at all is he saying about what Bawumia has said, ours was not a campaign platform talk, it was a real lecture. Comparing Amissah Arthur and Bawumia is a mismatch.”
