Government Needs Prayer Support: Ofosu-Ampofo

Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the Eastern Regional Minister, has said government officials were prone to hazards and needed the prayer support of all instead of constant criticism. He said people in leadership positions needed the support of its people both spiritually and physically to ensure that they used their positions to better the lot of the people and not for their own selfish interest. Mr. Ampofo, who spoke at an anniversary thanksgiving service of the Jumapo Church of Pentecost, said it was only when people supported those they had put in positions of trust that they would perform well. He told the congregation that the state and the church needed to strengthen collaboration for effective leadership and building of a just society. Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo called on the congregation to use the anniversary to reflect on their past, their lifestyles, assess their influence on the society and to be an example for a life of patriotism, hard work and selflessness for the society to emulate. Mr. J.B. Danquah, a former MP for Abuakwa North, said every anniversary created the opportunity for the celebrants to take stock and to fill the gaps left. He thanked them for the support given him during his tenure and urged them to support all those in leadership despite their background because it would be in their own interest. The chief of Jumapo, Nana Oppong Owusu, said the church played an important role to complement the efforts of government in the areas of education, health and even communal labour and that made the church relevant for development. He commended the Pentecost Church especially for their role and contribution towards communal labour in the area.
