Is Governance Business Or Management?

The Spiritual Head of Saviour Church of Ghana, Opanin Elia Asirifi Dadeako is questioning the honesty of politicians as they seek the mandate of the people to govern the country.

“I have a simple question for the political elites in Ghana. Do they get into government to run it as a business or to govern and mange the resources of the state?”  Opanin Airifi Dadeako asked in an interaction with the New Crusading GUIDE.

The spiritual head said, he, as a citizen has been worried about how the political elites run the affairs of the state as a business entity instead of “running the country as trustees on our behalf”.

“We as citizens cannot manage our resource that is why we have elections to elect the best to lead us. If that is the case, how come the leaders become rich overnight while we the citizens who have employed them are impoverished”, he averred.

“When I hear government withholding information, I ask myself, are they serving the nation or is the nation serving them instead?” he quizzed.

“This cannot be governance. Leaders are to manage and protect our resources. They are to distribute our resources fairly and equally, but what do we see?” He further asked.

He added that a system whereby leaders get richer at the expense of the citizenry cannot be termed as governance.

“If you are coming to manage my resources, why should you bribe me with all sorts of material things? To me, it means you are bribing me to come and steal my resources to enrich yourself”, he said.
