HFC BANK donates to support underprivileged

The management of HFC Bank (Ghana) Limited, has donated a cheque of GH�28,200 to various institutions to support the underprivileged in society. The money would be used to support education, health, orphanages and other social activities. Mr Akwete Akita, Executive Director of HFC Bank Ghana, presenting the cheque, said the bank in addition to its commitment to customers, reached out to society by cooperating with various organisations to improve the lives of the vulnerable in society. "It is our desire that through this commitment to give back to society from which we take, other segments of society, especially the underprivileged, will benefit from our success in business," he said. Mr Akita said the bank would also support the infrastructural development of another primary school in a deprived community this year. "The gesture is also in line with HFC's corporate social responsibility," he said, stressing that "for HFC Bank, successful corporate social responsibility is an all year round activity". Ms Rita Afua Owusu, Head of Communications, Marketing and Fundraising of SOS Ghana, on behalf of the beneficiary institutions, expressed gratitude to the management of HFC Bank for the support and pledged that the monies would be judiciously used for the benefit of the needy in society. Some of the beneficiary institutions include, Korle-bu Teaching Hospital Accident centre, Ghana Heart Foundation Cardio Thoracic Centre, Dzorwulu Special School for the Mentally Retarded, Catholic Action for Street Children and help Age Ghana. The rest are; SOS Ghana, Mampong Babies Home, University of Ghana Student's Financial Aid Office, GES, World Food Programme Project Scholarship in the Northern Region for Needy Girls, National Partnership for Children's Trust and the Volta Hall of the University of Ghana.
