Upper East NDC Women's Wing Charts New Path

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reactivated the Women's Wing of the party, in the Upper East Region to enable members to chart a new path for growth. The Deputy Regional Minister, Mrs. Lucy Awuni held a maiden meeting with the women organisers, from the 13 constituencies and members of the 31st December Women's Movement. The members decided among other things, to organise quarterly meetings to be beheld at the constituency, district and regional levels. Mrs. Awuni said it was paramount for the women to work hard by embarking on effective membership drive to win more people for the NDC. She charged the women to start the campaign for Election 2012 now by winning the souls and minds of the people. Executive members of the women's wing expressed the need for the party hierarchy to involve them in the decision-making process. They also appealed for financial support to enable them to embark on viable economic ventures to empower them to undertake party activities. Mr. Mark Woyongo, Regional Minister thanked the women for working assiduously for NDC to recapture power and urged them to vote for people who were competent and capable during the forthcoming party constituency election. He assured them of the party's support.
