Lynncare Foundation Organise Free Medical Care For Osonodompe Residents

Lynncare Foundation, an NGO has organized a free health screening exercise at Osonodompe in the Ga West Municipality in the greater Accra Region for the poor and the vulnerable.

They were examined for various diseases including hepatitis “B”, hypertension, diabetes, glaucoma and other eye conditions.

Those, whose condition required further checks and treatment, were referred to Regional Hospital for thorough checks and diagnosis.

During the exercise, about 500 people were screened by a team of medical professionals.

Addressing the event, the Director of Lynncare Foundation , Linda Dadson said, the exercise has become necessary considering the level of spread of diseases among residents especially people who cannot afford the means of knowing their health status.

She indicated that, screening the people was the way forward, to remain healthy and advised the youth to stay away from alcohol, smoking and drugs abuse.

She stated that excessive intake of alcohol and misuse of drugs tended to weaken the immune system, leading to chronic diseases.

The health screening was a regular programme instituted to help the underprivileged who could not access healthcare services due to financial problems.

Through the programme, women were screened for breast cancer in 2014 and about 100 of them whose cases were serious, were given free treatment.

She also advised people suffering from diabetes and hepatitis to engage in regular physical exercise and to eat more fruits.

She added that the Foundation has decided to embark on the exercise with the goal of contributing to efforts at bringing quality healthcare to the population and had been providing support to those living with the HIV/AIDS infection.

He called for increased public education on hepatitis “B” and other chronic diseases.

The medical screening was supported by Barack Medical Consult.
