Black Stars Will Be Rewarded Well Vanderpuye

Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has indicated that Black Stars players would receive a befitting bonus and a package that his ministry can afford, ahead of Friday’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Uganda.

Even though the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) have not yet reached a mutual consensus in relation to winning bonus required for the team, the sports minister has hinted that the Black Stars would receive a befitting settlement.

In an interview with Accra-based radio station, Happy FM, the minister said: “We have not yet reached a consensus, but there are negotiations ongoing between MoYS and Management Committee of the Black Stars, but I can assure all Ghanaians that we will pay a bonus that is well deserved and affordable.”

“So far, the players have not complained about what they are receiving, so it’s my assumption that at least, it will serve as a yardstick to decide on what to pay and, we shall do everything in the interest of Ghana and pay bonuses which can be sustainable going into the future.”

Concerns over finding a lasting solution in the compensation of players has created a lot of feud between the sector Minister and the Ghana Football Association resulting in the two engaging in unsavoury war of words in the media.
