Campaign On Tilapia Consumption Launched

Volta Catch Ghana Limited is set to introduce a new campaign to create awareness about the consumption of tilapia in the country. The campaign, which is part of the company�s branding, is under the theme: �You too can afford it.� It has been initiated because most Ghanaians regard tilapia as being for the rich. The Managing Director of Volta Catch, Mike Amechi, noted that the company would use the campaign to erase the �disillusion from the minds of Ghanaians. �it is also to make it available to Ghanaians, especially those who love the delicacy, but yet cannot afford it. �The company, he noted, has been able to sell the product to hoteliers, market women, fishmongers, retailers and all stakeholders in the tilapia business, affordable tilapia-year around. �This has expanded the market for us in the country.� Volta Catch Limited produces 2,500 tonnes of tilapia fish annually, making it the second company in Africa to produce the fresh fish in large quantities. Since its inception in the country in 1997, the company has adopted best production practices in the rearing of tilapia in Ghana. With an intact cold chain and correct know-how the firm has been able to deliver the best quality tilapia ot the consuming public. The company has offered to provide dealers and consumers the opportunity to massively patronize the product and make the fish available at affordable prices to Ghanaians.
