The Nkwanta South Community Day Senior High School (SHS) in the Volta Region is one of the 123 schools.

It was commissioned on Wednesday, November 18 last year by President John Dramani Mahama.

Filing a field report about the level of work on the Nkwanta South Community Day SHS, Peace FM's Correspondent in the Volta Region Awura Abena noted that "teachers have been employed and students enrolled but the sad thing is that there are serious cracks on the pillars and corridors of the school which pose a threat to the teachers and the students.

"...the cracks on the walls, particularly those on the library walls; are life threatening...there is also no access route provided for the disabled. The laboratories are incomplete; it has no lab equipment, only thing available are electrical bulbs and ceiling fans."

She added that "the school has no resident headmaster. The District Director of Education is the Acting headmaster but he is always busy attending to administrative duties in the area. He fails to attend to the needs of the school. The teachers have also not received their salaries since last year."
