Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has stated that this year’s election is a choice between realism and political opportunism, therefore voters must choose wisely.

    He said the NDC Manifesto, which represented practicality, had much more credible policies for the development of the nation than that of its opponents.

  Vice President Amissah-Arthur made the statement at a lecture, organised for students of the Cape Coast Technical University.

    The forum with the students forms part of his four-day campaign tour of the Central Region.
     He is expected to meet with the Chiefs and opinion leaders, farmers, traders, as well as to inaugurate a market at Assin Ngreasi.       

    Vice President Amissah-Arthur also stated that given the choices available to the people, President John Mahama was the best choice for Ghana in this year’s elections.

   He said any political party that sought to govern must have a manifesto that was coherent and realistic to signal the seriousness of the party to win power and administer the country.

    He said the 2016 NDC Manifesto was a logical development of the vision of the Party, which had guided it, since 2008.

     Vice President Amissah-Arthur said the current manifesto launched by the Party in Sunyani had four thematic areas, with emphasis on job creation.

    He said the NDC’s ideology of Social Democracy aptly articulated the vision of the party that the circumstances of a person’s birth should not determine his contribution to the nation.

  He said the NDC was a party that created opportunities for all people in the country to develop to their fullest potential so that they could contribute their maximum to the nation.

   Vice President Amissah-Arthur also stated that despite attempts by the NPP to denigrate the achievements of the NDC at any opportunity they got, especially by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NPP, it would not deter the Government from continuing with its transformational agenda.

   He said the NPP’s criticism of the NDC that they had not sustained macroeconomic stability showed their lack of appreciation of the issues on the economy.

   He said the NPP’s proposed tax breaks and incentives in their manifesto would amount to 6.2 billion cedis in additions to the introduction of 21 billion cedis in expenditures.

   He said the NPP manifesto was an admission of failure even right from the beginning because there was no initiative for job creation.

  Vice President Amissah-Arthur also stated that it was the responsibility of any political party to organise the human resources available to it to use the skills and expertise that it had developed to administer the country when it won an election.

Therefore, he said, if any party did not nurture this resource then it had fully itself to blame.
