Woman hires thug to kill his brother

A 43-Year-Old woman from Adaklu-Vodze, near Ho, Charity Mana Doe, who allegedly hired a thug to murder her younger brother, is helping the police in their investigations.

The murder bid failed as the loud cries of the victim, Anthony Dotse Doe, 37, attracted a resident to the scene where he was being clubbed by the “assassin.”

A spokesman at the Ho Central Police Station, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed that Charity was arrested by the police when the brother reported the incident last Wednesday, and granted police enquiry bail on Friday.

According to the spokesman, Anthony was returning from the farm when a man emerged from the bush and asked for his cutlass to cut a tree.

Since he did not know the man, Anthony rather asked the man to point at the tree he wanted so that he would cut it for him.

The man pointed at a tree and when Anthony turned to look in the direction, the man clubbed him on the head and he fell.

The police source said that the man ordered Anthony to remain in a prostrate position and also threatened to butcher him with the cutlass if he raised his head or made any sound.

The man started hitting him with the club, beginning from the feet towards the head, until Anthony could not bear the pain anymore and shouted for help.

Anthony also raised his head and saw his elder sister standing by the man and shouted her name, but she fled, followed by the man.

Residents of the town said they saw Charity and the alleged man leaving the village in a speeding taxi, soon after the incident.

According to them, Anthony and her sister had not been on good terms for some time, but he went to the farm of his sister to harvest maize a few days before the incident.

Anthony, who was rushed to the Regional Hospital in Ho, was still on admission at the time of filing this report, but he was said to be responding to treatment.

“We believe there are more suspects connected to this case, so we are looking for them,” said the police spokesman.
