Mills Storms TOR

The worrying crude oil situation in the country would be addressed today, perhaps, when President John Evans Atta Mills storms the refinery to engage the staffers of the facility. The country has been plagued with a biting crude oil crisis in the past few months, a situation which prompted TOR workers to hold a press conference a couple of days ago to express their sentiments over the issues. There is a widespread fear that the facility is up for grabs by some persons associated with government, although no basis has been established for the apprehension. With no crude oil to feed the refinery, the country wholly depends on the import of finished petroleum products. It is even alleged that agents stop vessels conveying petroleum products to other destinations with a view to diverting some to Ghana. This allegation was made yesterday when the Minority Spokesman on Communications, Hon Nana Akomea, was addressing the subject on an Accra-based radio station. He expressed disgust that the oil issue has been bungled up making the whole thing look messy, as he put it. When president Mills meets the TOR staff, who have threatened to embark on a strike, he could be soothing their pain with promises of crude oil on the high seas.
