Armed Robbers Resigning

Armed robbers are now finding their job more risky and unattractive, following the resolve of the police to chase them where ever they are and the support NDC Government is giving to the Police Service. The only alternative left for some of them is to resign and find legitimate means of livelihood. The Deputy Regional Police Commander, ACP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, made this known to The Daily Democrat when two armed robbers were arrested trying to exchange a gun in their possession for money to travel. According to ACP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, this new development started when the current Government took over the seat of governance. The paper through its investigation got to know the NDC Government, upon assuming power, realized that armed robbers were taking the country hostage and decided together with the Police Administration to institute a strategy of giving rewards to informants who offer information on the whereabouts of the criminals and truly, a lot of armed robbers are being apprehended daily. ACP Tetteh Yohuno told the Daily Democrat newspaper that these days a lot of armed robbers are disposing of their weapons with the intention of quitting the job because they are unable to stand the heat of the Police, while others are running away in order to save their lives due to the way they are being confronted when they try to exchange fire with the police. Briefing The Daily Democrat after the arrest of the two armed robbers, a Detective Sergeant, Emmanuel Browa, disclosed that the two robbers, Courage Kusorgbor, 25 years from Sogakope and Eric Kene, 20 years from Agolume, were arrested on the 17th October, 2009 at the Konkomba market around 8:30am when they were in negotiation of exchanging their gun for money. Exhibits found on them include a short gun and two white handkerchiefs believed to contain their charms. Sergeant Browa further revealed that on the 16th October, 2009, the two armed robbers approached one Victor to lend them GH10 to enable them travel to Takoradi. The complainant therefore asked them to come the following day for the money, where he quickly organized some people. The following day the two robbers came as promised, but were arrested and handed over to the Police. When they were interrogated, Courage Kusorgbor, the owner of the short gun, told ACP Tetteh Yohuno that the gun belongs to his dead father and that, he (Kusorgbor) is using the locally manufactured gun to protect himself. Information gathered attested to the fact that before their arrest, these two robbers thought their charm could save them so they quickly started reciting some incantations but all to no avail. ACP Tetteh Yohuno said the robbers had robbed a woman and were wanted by the Police; that is why they had hidden at Sodom and Gomorrah and wanted to dispose of the gun. The Police have also arrested five suspected armed robbers who they believe are behind most of the robberies going on in the city. The leader of the gang, an ex-convict called Kwasi Ayamba, 22, was arrested together with his gang by the police patrol team on their way to rob.
