Robbers Bolt Away With $276,000 Worth of Gold

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Kwesi Ofori, has advised companies, especially gold mining companies, to make security arrangements in the transfer of gold from one point to another, to scare away anyone who might want to loot the gold. Speaking to Kwami Sefa-Kayi on Peace Fm�s flagship programme, �Kokrokoo� today, the Police PRO gave this advice when reached for details of a reported gold robbery at Sankofa Gold Limited at Prestea. He disclosed that the Sankofa Gold Limited at Prestea have had a quantity of gold stolen at gun point when two masked armed robbers attacked and overpowered six other personnel who were responsible for packaging the gold. ��during the encounter one of the robbers left behind a gun which may help the police investigations being conducted at Tarkwa,� he added. DSP Kwesi Ofori told PEACEFM that the total value of the stolen gold is estimated at $276,000, according to the Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Amidu.
