Guide Your Wards On Internet Usage Prof Aryeetey

Parents and guardians have been urged to guide their wards to sift out the right information from the internet that would help open up their minds and develop their perspectives of the world.

Professor Ernest Aryeetey, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, who made the call, added that parents should not kill the initiative displayed by their wards but help them get different perspectives on contemporary issues.

However, he stated that since information technology churns out innovation, almost on daily basis, there are some challenges which need to be addressed, adding that part of the challenge is to ensure that the youth remain competitive and can match their counterparts in the rest of the world.

He also urged the youth to ensure that the information they access is translated into applied knowledge to make them competitive.

“This can be done by engaging constructively and regularly with your teachers and developing an enquiring and analytical mind,” he stressed.

Professor Aryeetey was giving a keynote at the 89th Speech and Prize-Giving ceremony of Achimota School.
