The chief of Sekyikrom near Nsawam in the Nsawam-Aduagyiri constituency in the Eastern region has assured President John Mahama of his commitment to ensure the general elections go on peacefully in his area.

Nana Osai Anka  IV who was speaking during a courtesy call on him by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah who is on a campaign tour of the region said he is particularly confident that President John MAHAMA's administration will sustain the peace in the country to promote unity and development.

He was particularly grateful to the President and government in general for recognizing his still and paying him frequent visits to interact with him and to seek advice.

Nana Osai Anka IV however said Sekyikrom which is one of the oldest towns in the area deserves better recognition. He lamented the failure to add it in the naming of the Nsawam Aduoagyiri Municipality and pleaded with government to make the necessary changes to reflect the status of the town.

He also pleaded for the construction of a footbridge over the new Sekyikrom-Akraman road to save pedestrians from accidents.

He said as citizens of the community they recognize the appointment of the MCE who hails from the town and the Parliamentary candidate and hoped the electorates will acknowledge that.

In a brief remark, the Chief of Staff announced a policy initiative that will prioritize indigenous business development in the Eastern region and the nation at large to empower the youth with entrepreneurial skills.

He also mentioned other policy initiatives in the NDV 2016 manifesto which targets the promotion of the AGRIC sector.

He hoped the people will vote massively for the President and the NDC parliamentary candidate for Nsawam Aduagyiri Benidicta Oyo.

The Deputy regional chairman of the MdC later presented 10 packets of roofing sheets and 200 bags of cement to the Chiefs to refurbish their Palace to a befitting status.

Earlier the Chief of Staff and his entourage paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Adoagyiri  Nana Okoanadwo AFUTU Dompreh II.

Nana AFUTU Dompreh II also spoke passionately about their land and asked for governments intervention to secure back some parcels for the people.
