Independent Parliamentary Candidate for North Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region, Mr. Christopher Kofi Eleblu, has chided the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, saying that “Mr. Asiedu Nketia (known as General Mosquito) is a breach of the constitution in Ghana.”
Mr. Eleblu’s outburst come as a result of the recent warning issued by Mr. Nketia to disgruntled members of the NDC who are contesting the December 7, 2016 general elections as independent parliamentary candidates not to campaign for President John Dramani Mahama during their campaigning in their respective towns and villages of their constituencies.
Speaking at a rally at Juapong over the weekend, Mr. Eleblu vented his anger on Mr. Nketia, challenging him to produce parts of the constitution in Ghana that prevent him from campaigning for the presidential candidate who is the person of his choice.
He could not fathom why Mr. Nketia would warn him not to campaign for the presidential candidate of his choice, adding that “if that part of the diabolic decision by Mr. Nketia is in the constitution of the NDC then we can conclude that that part of the NDC constitution is also a breach of the national constitution of Ghana.”
Mr. Eleblu fumed: “lam telling Mr. Asiedu Nketia that the governing NDC has very brilliant lawyers so he should consult them before he and his cohorts continue disgracing themselves publicly by making decisions that could cause huge defeat to President Dramani Mahama in the December 7, 2016 polls.
“…and l am also making it clear to the NDC general secretary that as an independent parliamentary candidate for North Tongu Constituency l am going to campaign for the presidential candidate of my choice and that choice is President John Dramani Mahama…so if the president says l, Christopher Kofi Eleblu should not campaign for him in the December general elections then the president should personally write to me,” Mr. Eleblu added.
It would be recalled that the governing NDC sanctioned 23 members of the party for contesting as independent parliamentary aspirants in the upcoming polls, and subsequently sacked them from the party.
